I wonder Sue if those who propagate God’s judgement as evil and unrelenting understand what He means when He tells us that He will avenge. Yes many will reap what they sow and yes there will be no Compassion which is their choice not God’s, it’s not His will anyone perishes but because they have rejected Jesus in their hearts to death and He is the only way to God the Father, they will suffer in the Lake of Fire that burns forever and also if they are still alive at the very end times Tribulation, after the Rapture when The Holy Spirit will be removed.
When we believe in Jesus we show it by our heart repentance and by our turning away from evil and choosing to do good by the empowering of The Holy Spirit.
We remember God tells us all good things come from Him not evil and as we see confirmed in the Scriptures below and there are others, He does not willingly afflict anyone and He never leaves us Christians when we are afflicted and suffer hardship in this World but gives us His Strength to endure.
Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.
Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.” KJV
Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. KJV
It is definitely each person’s choice as to where they will spend eternity. Like you said, He won’t force Himself on anyone but wishes all be saved. Thanks and blessings to you.
