   As a woman who spent a lifetime demonstrating her worth in the workplace and fighting for equality with men, I find it offensive that any candidate — Hillary Clinton included — would seek my vote merely on the basis of gender. A good deal of the vast experience Hillary lays claim to stems from her former status as First Lady. With due respect to all First Ladies and the causes they championed, Hillary was during those years a spouse, plain and simple. Proximity to power is not the same thing as election on the basis of merit. Hillary’s attempt as First Lady to muscle health care legislation through Congress was an abject failure. That is something to remember when she claims special knowledge of how to deal effectively with the logjam in Washington.
