I’ve decided that women are smarter than men!
Okay, that one sentence just reduced my followers down to just women. Bye guys. lol
Now why would I make such a bold “outlandish” statement like that? Well, let’s see;
While I was still trying to recover from the third stay in the hospital we had what the weather people called an Arctic Freeze. Freezing weather that reached, in my area, 12-15 degrees below zero wind chill. Oh yes we had some really high winds and temperatures were enough to freeze us right down to the bones, but we survived. Some didn’t survive as well; trees exploding from the cold, winds that placed trees across homes, homes without power or heat, cars that had dead batteries, oh you know, those inconvenient unexpected Arctic Freeze kinds of things that happen.
I said to my roommate several times, “I sure hope someone covered the outside faucets, turned the heat up, and turned off the water and drained the lines, at the ministry house.” She agreed but our hopes were not high.
Did I mention, I think woman are smarter than men? Let me correct that, I know women are smarter than men! Yep, that’s just my opinion, like it or not.
In spite of that, I do have to give credit for someone of the male gender turning the heat up. Yes siree, someone sure did but I guess whomever neglected to realize there is no, barely any, insulation in the attic but hey, heat rises so it should be okay. Right?
Did I mention subzero temperatures? Maybe the power might go out? Hmmm I thought I did.
Well, we women already, probably, know what the results turned out to be.
Yep, sure enough, the water line in the attic froze and gee, that dog gone pipe broke! With the power out and no heat, can you just imagine that?
Now you know sheet rock will only absorb so much water before it too will just pop wide open and look like mushy mashed potatoes and let all that piled up water rush to freedom. Ever seen a waterfall?
And that’s exactly what it did! Down, down, down it came and by golly water won’t stay in just one little spot, don’t ‘cha know. It spread out all over those brand new floors and on that large dinning room table, and down into the area carpet. It was good of that carpet to soak up some of that free flowing water. Oh did I mention it was also running down the driveway and yard? No? For how long I don’t know. Forgive me, my memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be.
I’m assuming one of the smarter of the male species finally turned the water off at the street and grabbed a mop. Bless their hearts, they even got together and mopped, swept, and cleared out the indoor lake.
Now ladies, haven’t we all measured windows for blinds and curtains? We know how to measure and some of us has even hung those curtains and installed those blinds all by ourselves, right? Guess what, men measured for the new windows in the living room, big windows, and they were delivered, and to our joy they were going to finally be installed. But dog gone it, just another small snag; the windows were too small, they measured wrong! Can you just beat that!
Oh but there is some good news, yes’eree, we have some praises to report.
There is insurance coverage, pray it will cover the expenses and not wiggle around with silly objections like they like to do.
Another praise is that other than the dining room table and chairs, no other of our beautiful furniture was ruined or damaged. That’s definitely a praise!
Oh yeah, there’s still another praise; three or four women have been interviewed for our transition home IF/WHEN it is ever ready for occupancy. Now I need to say there are certain criteria one must meet to be accepted into our home. Not everyone does qualify, but having said that, it is a long process of vetting but the way things seem to be going, (if you recall all the “bumps” we’ve had to deal with from the beginning,) it will take time to get this home opened and occupied. A lot more time than we originally planned!
With the Lord’s help, we can do the impossible!
Happy New Year and many blessings to you all.
