On this eve before our country’s birthday – I’m led to think. I wish I could say it is happy thoughts and maybe my thoughts should be happy. I find myself however wondering – wondering how many more birthdays this country is even going to have left to it.

Now don’t get me wrong, there always has been and always will be some exceptional people in this United States of America – great people – ordinary people who do what needs to be done because it’s the right thing to do. These folks defend our country willing to pay the ultimate price if necessary – wear a police uniform and run into danger while everyone else runs away from it. These ordinary folks feed the homeless, go on mission trips right here in our own country like people that went to help those hit by hurricane Katrina. They respond to…
