I AM – Devotional Style Short Stories – “High on a Hill”

The day was cold. Rain had poured down soaking the ground. The river was flooding, water rushing over the jagged rocks and forcing its way south.

On the bank stands a Man. He looks up to the sky, whispers a few words, and takes a seat under the only tree. A large tree; a tree with arms reaching to heaven, strong arms, arms filled with lush leaves and a trunk that can stand any storm.

The sun begins to peek through the dark gray clouds. Sighing heavily, the Man stands. He takes a few steps toward the raging river. He lifts one foot and slowly places his toes in the water.

He hears the sound of horse’s hooves drawing near. Louder and louder they come. Turning slightly, He glances over His shoulder and His lips quirk at the corners. He knows who is approaching and why they are coming.

The horses stop nearby. Men in their soldier gear dismount and approach. One man points his finger toward the Man by the river and yells, “That’s Him!”

The soldiers quickly walk toward Him and grab Him. But one of the men in the group is the Man’s friend and quickly draws his sword. He swings at the soldier and misses his target lopping off a part of his ear. “Oh rats! I’ll get’cha this time” the friend thinks.

The friend raises his sword and takes aim.

The Man chastises him.

He lowers his sword and takes a step back.

The Man places His hand over the bleeding ear of the soldier, healing it.

A few questions are asked and the soldiers lead the Man away.

The hill is high. The skull carved in the rock beneath the three crosses is a testimony of the evil that is taking place. The Man hangs limply, nailed to the Cross. His strength is gone. Blood pours from His wounds. Slowly lifting His head a mere inch from His chest He asks His Father to “forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

The blood drips, water oozes from His side, pain sears through His body and weakly sucking in a breath His last labored words set the world on edge…

“It is finished!”

***

John 19:30 “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”

***

Jesus’ sole mission on earth was to bring sinners into His saving grace. He doesn’t want anyone to go to hell but because we have been given free will He will not force Himself on anyone. Christ walked that path down the hill to Golgotha where He was nailed to a rugged cross. There were those who jeered, some mocked, some cried, others stood mute. An innocent Man who wanted nothing more than to show His great love to all of mankind hung bleeding, dying a most horrific slow death. I can’t imagine His pain. I can’t imagine the suffering He felt physically and emotionally and to be betrayed by friends, to look out over a crowd and see angry faces staring back at Him and then to ask His Father to forgive them. Those people are us! We do not deserve His love. We do not deserve His grace or His mercy and yet if we ask, “Father, forgive me,” He will, in a split second. Aren’t we glad that Jesus was obedient to the Father and so should we.

Life or Death?

High school is difficult in some ways. All the parties, keeping up with homework, and not disappointing the peers with their high expectations.

Dating is fun but who knew what was expected to be popular with the guys. The new girl at school is pretty with her tanned body, long brown hair, and pretty, but shy, smile.

She learns pretty quickly what is expected if she’s to be in the “in crowd” and is convinced by those “in the know” this is the only way to  be popular.

After months of emotional turmoil and pressure from parents and friends, she sits in the waiting room filling out the forms. A woman stands by making sure she doesn’t leave. She’s been told sweetly, “This is the right thing to do. It’s in your best interest, and your whole future is ahead of you.”

She places her hand on the area where she feels movement. Maybe a foot has pressed against her belly. Or maybe it was a hand reaching out. A tear slides down her cheek. She suddenly stands to leave and the woman grabs her arm to stop her. “You can’t leave!” the woman demands.

The door opens and a Man enters. He stands quietly and says nothing. The young girl looks at Him with pleading eyes. He steps up beside her and gently sits her down. The woman leaves the room thinking its the boyfriend here to talk sense into her.

The girl leans into the Man and sobs tears of fear, shame, and sorrow. His hand gently strokes her back and He whispers, “This child you are carrying, I knew before he was conceived. I formed him in your womb. Bless this child and call him David, for he will be a mighty man of God.”

The woman returns as the Man stands. The girl grabs His arm. He gently helps her stand and they start to walk toward the door. The woman screams, “You can’t do this! We need that kids tissues!”

Fury rises in the Man, He spins around to face her and with anger and all Authority He states emphatically, “Get behind me Satan!”

The woman slithers away.

Only Repentance Can Stop You From the Eternal Fires of Hell

“Go in faith My people of the cross. Your words shall bring forth persecution yet many shall hear and rejoice.

The tides are swelling. The land is ripe with dissension and prejudice. Let your words be your sword for it is through My word that shall stop the battle.

Put on the full armor given to you and stand firm for the enemy is on his way. He shall attack when least expected. He shall entice, cajole, ridicule. Be aware that his army stands ready for his command.

Your armies, tanks, and commanders are lost in the war of sin. Only repentance can stop you from the eternal fires of hell. Reach out in faith and hold back your foes. Cling to the word of the Lord.

Time is near when all shall bow and heavens gates shall swing wide. Follow the path that I have laid out, for each of you have a destiny to fulfill.

My word stands, My truth prevails for all shall see the winds blow across the nations carrying with it the wrath for all who rebuke My word.

Take heed O’ leaders for your downfall is near. You cajole My truth and act so wise. Yet your foolishness shall bring you embarrassment and cheeks as red as a new bride.

Fall on your face and seek Mine for you shall be as a serpent if you reject My truth. Lead not My people to war for you shall lose. My people shall rejoice as the blood flows from your fallen soldiers.

You resist and I shall bring you down O’ nations of decadence. You shall fall as a tree in a storm, as tidal waves that hit the shores leaving nothing behind but destruction. O’ leaders across the land, your folly shall end in your demise taking the innocent along your muddy paths.

Walk tall My children for your Savior shall sweep you out of harms way. Your final destiny shall bring no pain. My gates are open, My arms yearn for all to embrace My love. Few shall see the heavens rewards for the path to hell is wide.

Rejoice O’ loved ones for I await. Your songs of praise lift My heart, My eyes shed tears of overflowing love. Reach out to those in pain for their hearts are empty from the world’s abuse. Words of hate flow like rivers down a hill spreading its vile disease of bitterness along the banks of everlasting cruelty.

Reach out O’ loved ones and catch the falling people who lose their grip and fall from grace. Kiss their heart with your kindness and love for their heart needs the passion of loving caresses. My comfort shall fill them as a jar being filled with honey. My love is everlasting.

Bring them to Me and all shall see how love can fill the largest of empties. This earthly time is short but eternity waits. My mercy is new each day, so many may face the trials of time. Time everlasting needs no mercy for you shall be joining the Father at His throne. Rejoice.”

Thursday’s Pen Tips #10

For you who believe there is no end. For others who do not believe in the Son of God Almighty, there is end to joy that you think you have now.

For those who scoff and follow the one not of Christ – hell fires will deliver you into the coals of hell.

Lift thy hands, thy heart, towards the heavenlies for your Father who art in heaven waits.

He who is on high awaits your plea for His grace. If you do not succumb unto Him, may He who was born this day have mercy on your soul.

The Stone lies Dead

“Sin hinders the clarity of the Lord. Ye who walk in the ways of the world, your ears shall be closed to His truth. Eyes are blinded, lips parched, for there is no Living Water flowing from your well.

Let not your hearts be turned to stone for stones reveal only the tides of time. Smooth and cleaned yet there is nothing inside, except a core of cold hard stone.

Appearances may dazzle but the Lord knows the heart. The heart that cries out in love and mercy, the heart that sings and praises the Lord brings joy to the One above.

The stone lies dead in the dry river bed, nothing touches it but the sun. Vultures fly far above and see nothing there to even pick.  The heart of stone closes out all and all who see, for to see would change the heart.

Woe to those who seek, but not the kingdom of God, for the stones shall bring them down. In ancient times stones buried the dead. He laid behind the stone. But in power and love He shed the stone and rose to be the Lord.

Bow before Him all ye sinners. Kneel before Him all you kings. The glory of the Lord shall spread throughout the land and only stones will not be moved.

Have mercy dear Savior for those who fall for they shall never rise.”

Don’t Defy His Word!

“The grace of God, the Most Holy One, shall bring His wrath against those who defy His Word. The nations shall fall for His righteousness cries out across the land. Woe to those who come against My people. Woe to those who turn from My land to bring destruction against that which I have deemed to be holy.

Those who try Me in their indifference to My words shall fall as flies in a land of destruction. He who thinks his wisdom is great shall fall by the sword in his stupor of ignorance.

Be on guard you fools for His Majesty shall bring you down. Do not tread on waters with the vipers of all time, for you shall be devoured.

O’ Jerusalem repent of your deeds. The judgment of all your people is fast approaching. Bring your kin, your children, to the cross of Jesus for your future is in peril by those who refuse to believe.

Stand fast My children for the Lord your God shall give you the desires of your hearts. Freedom shall ring and grace prevail for all who follow the King.

Be on alert My people of God for the forces of evil are on the hillsides. Time has come for armor to be placed in position of defense. Many shall perish, many shall hide. Those who hold fast in the faith in Him who created all shall rise in victory.

Stand tall My children for many shall woo you to places of no return. Evil abounds and the world is fallen into the decency of worldly ways. Peril and destruction shall soon be on the shores of the nations, for the people revolt against those who follow My decrees. Have mercy, forgive, and pray for their salvation.  Their ears are deaf, their eyes are blind, yet they swagger as though they are kings.

My anger shall flow like the rivers of time. Flowing into the seas of My wrath. For My wrath has been held in check by My mercy being poured out.

Take heed all ye who think your ways are not noticed. Your ways are despicable in My sight and forgiveness shall not come without repentance.

Rise up O’ children of God, shout from the mountain tops, ‘HE IS ALIVE, HE IS COMING, REFORM YOUR WAYS OR FACE HIS WRATH.’

The Unites States is about to embark on a dangerous path. Repent ye who turn your people to disillusionment and think they are following My ways.

Your leaders shall learn the lessons of grief, of destruction, and shall fall as rocks from a mountain top. Your ways have brought shame and I, the Lord of lords, shall wreak havoc upon you.

Repent or face a time of destruction in all areas that you think you are mighty. Your armies cannot save you from My Mighty hand, your leaders shall turn in confusion and fear.

Bring forth the believers and pray for mercy for all who reject My ways.”

A Wasted life – or was it?

imagesCAQ8HA8U

“Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.” Matt.5:4

Looking at this scripture we often think of a widow or a widower mourning the loss of their loved one. But in this life we mourn many things. What do you mourn?

When that question was asked of me I couldn’t think of anything in particular. Yes, I had mourned the loss of my husband, I had mourned the loss of a childhood through abuse, I’ve mourned the loss of pets, and of friends. But when I asked the Lord, “Is there anything I’m mourning?” I was surprised and confused about His reply.

“You mourn a wasted life.” was His reply. What?

All day I have thought about that answer and have taken peeks back at my life from birth to adulthood. I went to school; elementary through college. I’ve been a “soda jerk,” a sales clerk at J.C. Penny’s and various clothing stores, I worked my way through college by working in a Psychiatric Hospital helping the mentally ill. I had a career flying the friendly skies.  So how can all of that and all of those years have been wasted?

Forty-nine years. Yes, for forty-nine years I was doing my own thing. But was I really? The years of schooling was preparing me for the world. The after-school jobs was teaching me the financial aspects of being a responsible adult. The Psych. Hospital was teaching me so many things I can’t begin to express them here. It was an experience like no other and that knowledge has been used in many different situations in my life along with, of course, paying my college tuition fees. The flight attendant career took me to places I would never have been able to go and meeting people I never would have met. In particular Christians! I didn’t realize there were so many flying around those friendly skies! They had their “prey” trapped in a cylindrical tube high up in the sky and continually tried to convert me.

Oh yes. Sue was not a Christian. Sue was doing her own thing. Sue didn’t think she needed God. Not the God that allowed all the bad stuff in her life. Not the God that sat on the sidelines and didn’t give a flip about what she did. Sue, who chewed up Christians and spit them out like sour milk. No, Sue didn’t need this so-called loving God.

How wrong Sue was!

My husband and I had retired and was enjoying the good life but suddenly my world was turned upside down and inside out. My comfortable world with my cherished husband, was left empty. My husband died, my home felt empty and I was alone with the silence within its walls. Family was gone because I told “the secret.” I crawled into the cave of grief. That dark place where no light will enter because the shutters of the heart is closed.

Then Christ stepped in.

I hear it all the time, “Forget the past!” Well I don’t want to forget the past! When I look at my past and the experiences I have had it humbles me to the point of tears because it is my past that the Lord brought me through. It is all those experiences of growing up in a dysfunctional, abusive home that the Lord has used to help other victims of abuse. It is those flight attendants that prayed fervently for this lost soul to find Christ and all the seeds they planted at 37,000 feet in the air.

It is a husband who showed me unconditional love. and yes, it is all those sin filled experiences that the Lord has shown His great mercy through. It is the fowl language that spewed from these lips, the indiscretions, the drunken parties, dirty jokes uproariously laughed about, the “I’ll burn that Bible if you don’t get it out of my face!” It is the forgiveness of all my sins; past, present, and future.

I don’t want to forget the past! If I forget the past then maybe I will shrug off the great things that Christ has done in my life; in me, through me, and for me. He transformed a lost soul to a victor. He has taken me out of the pit of hell and given me life.

So why did He say, “You mourn a wasted life?” Because I look at those first forty-nine years and see my feet on the edge of a fire filled abyss and wonder how I ever lived without Him. I look at those forty- nine years and regret that I didn’t know Him, I didn’t worship Him, I didn’t serve Him. I look at those forty-nine years and mourn the lost time I could have had with Him.

“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” His comfort comes in that when I look back I can see His hand all along the way. I can see His mercy and grace hard at work as I did my own thing. I can see His shed blood on the cross and hear Him tell me over and over how much He loves me.

His comfort is in knowing I will not be spending eternity in a fire filled hell with Satan laughing at me for all my poor choices. His comfort comes in knowing that I have a Savior that cares so much for me that even though I was lost He never gave up on me. His comfort comes in knowing He used every opportunity to bring me step by step to Him. That’s the kind of comfort He gives to those of us that were lost and now are found.
