I AM – Devotional Style Short Stories – “The Spirit’s Alive”

Cars line to enter the already packed parking lot. The sun is bright and hot but it has not detoured the saints from coming. People are already standing at the doors waiting to enter the sanctuary and the women fan themselves as the men wipe sweat from their brow.

Music can be heard sifting through the rafters and seeping through the walls. The vibration can almost be felt in their feet as the excitement grows and suddenly the doors are thrown open and thousands rush to find a seat.

The music reverberates through the room and hands have already started to clap, bodies are dancing between the rows of seats, and others are doing little jigs as they walk down the aisles.

The music softens just a bit and through the loud speakers, as stragglers search for a seat, a voice roars, “Are you ready to worship the Lord?” The crowd roars, “Yes,” and the drums, guitars, and key board roars over the crowd.

Praise songs are sung, the music is ear-bursting loud, but nobody complains as they dance at their seats, raise their hands high in the air, and give the Lord their praises through the words of the songs.

The Man isn’t seen but He’s watching and listening.

The devil runs as the room is filled with His glory.

The drums quiet, the keyboard softens, and the voices fill the room in hushed reverence. Tears are filling eyes, heads are bowed, and the sound of “Holy is our Lord God Almighty,” is being sung softly.

A Wind blows across the room and suddenly the heavens are opened. Standing before the King is a choir of thousands and their voices are joining with the saints in this room.

Shekinah glory fills the room. Heavenly light flows through the room and some fall under the Power, they cannot stand, and yet they worship.

As the song ends, Jehovah Elyon’s eyes fill with tears of love and joy.

He has been magnified.

***

Psalm 34:3 – “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

***

When we magnify the Lord we are coming before Him and exalting who He is. We are glorifying His Name, we are honoring God Almighty and what He does. We are giving praise unto the King of kings and Lord of lords. No human can die for another and be saved and yet the Son of God chose to die so that our sins are forgiven and we have eternal life with Him in His heavenly kingdom. Have you asked the Lord Jesus to forgive you of your sins? Do you magnify Him through your thoughts, words, and actions? Magnify Him today through prayers of praise and songs of worship. Show your gratitude and love for He died that you may have life everlasting with Him.

The Heavens are Angry

Jan. 24, 2019 11:37 a.m.

The heavens are angry and My wrath shall be poured out. My children are crying, their hearts are ripped apart. For good reason!

Listen up My children for the day of redemption is very near. Pray as you have never prayed before, for the enemy has taken control of those who serve him.

Listen not to human reasoning for the human mind is corrupt. Proof of this is in the latest of laws in your country and My wrath shall be as no one has ever seen.

Take heed you heathens from hell for your days are numbered. You think you have conquered Me but you have seen nothing. Laugh and rejoice at your evil attempts to control what is mine. You shall see the fires of hell in a split second so beware of what you have done.

Your time on earth will soon close and all of eternity faces you. Pray My children. My little ones will be with Me but for now let the tears flow and your hearts will be healed.

Thus sayeth the Lord.

I AM – Devotional Style Short Stories – “Meeting of the Minds”

The date has been set. The time has been determined. The place has been chosen. Pulling into the parking lot the woman is astonished at the number of cars already filling the parking lot. She enters the building, places her name on the waiting list, and waits for the others to arrive.

Tables are shoved together and her name is called after a twenty-minute wait and the other women join her at the long table. The meeting will begin once the meals have been ordered.

“Thank you ladies for coming,” the leader of the group states. Meals arrive, the aroma of pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, gravy, and coffee fills the air as they introduce themselves and tell what craft the Lord has blessed them with.

Once the now empty dishes have been cleared away the purpose of the meeting is revealed. “We’ll be using our God-given talents to bless…….” The leader states the name of organization these ladies, and those who could not attend, will be creating personally made items for.

One lady knits, another makes personalized jewelry, another crochets, another does art work and around the table are many talents of various kinds and each is willing to use their God-given gift to bless others.

“I’ll make baby blankets” one lady states. Another excitedly comments, “If I knit squares then maybe she can crochet them together for a large comforter.” “If we can get a picture of Mom with her new baby, I can make her a pendant with the picture in it,” another states. Each lady tells what she would like to make and together they have formed a team of crafter’s on a mission of love and hope for new mothers.

The Waiter has overheard their conversation and leans between two of the ladies. “What are you all doing?” He asks one of the ladies. One lady smiles up at Him and tells Him, “We’re going to make various items for a Pregnancy Center and donate them.” She then points to various ladies and tells Him about their talents.

The Man straightens back up, holding the hot coffee pot He smiles brightly and nods His head with pleasure.”That’s wonderful,” He states and then leaves to refill His pot.

Romans 12:6 – “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them…”

***

God isn’t referring to just the gifts of the Holy Spirit when He hands out gifts and talents. “She really has a gift for singing,” someone might state at listening to a beautiful song being song. We are all given some gift or talent and each is to be used for the edification and glorification of God. What gift has He given you? Don’t waste it. Use it to glorify God and His blessings will be poured out to you and others.

I AM – Devotional Style Short Stories -“This old House”

Climbing onto the dirty seat of the old pickup truck with its rust spots, the woman grins at her brother who sits proudly behind the steering wheel. “It’s old but it still has lots of miles on it,” he states and turns the ignition.

Driving down the country road they chat about various topics catching up on what’s been going on in their lives. Suddenly she yells, “Stop, stop the truck!” He slams on the brakes.

“What’s wrong?” He asks and slowly pulls to the side of the road.

“Look! Just look at that old house!” She points out her window at the old house sitting back from the side of the road. Its skeleton sits among brush and tall grass. Trees stand tall and green in the background.

She steps out of the truck and walks to the barbed wire fence and stands gazing in awe. He shuts the engine off and steps out and walks to her side.

“It was a rich ranchers house is what I’ve heard.” Her brother states while looking out over the weeds and grass at the shell of what must have been a magnificent home.

In his mind’s eye he’s seeing the fancy ginger along the roofs edge and the heavy Oak door, with its oval etched glass window, that is no longer there. He sees a front porch with six fluted columns and Balusters with their thick Oak railings, and curtains floating through the open windows of the second story on a breezy day.

She cocks her head slightly and asks, “Do you hear that?” Breaking into his visualization of what might have been.

“Hear what?”

“Music! There’s music coming from in that house!”

An invisible Man has stepped up beside her and gently touched her. She doesn’t feel it but suddenly images of past years dance through her mind. It’s the 1800’s and the ladies are dressed in their long fancy gowns and men in their finest, with bolo ties, big silver belt buckles, and cowboy boots.

A man strokes the strings of a violin, another strums his guitar, and yet another skillfully plays his harmonica. Hands are clapping, toes are tapping, and smiles are spread across the faces of the party goers. Laughter can be heard as it waifs up through the ceiling and out the open doors and windows.

The music changes and a waltz is played and they take their partners in their arms and are waltzing around the large living room. The elegant furniture must have been moved to make a dance floor. Only a few fancy arm chairs sit off to the side. The polished Walnut staircase winds up to a second floor and an elegantly dressed lady stands on the bottom step chatting with one of the gentlemen guests.

The sister doesn’t hear her brother telling her they need to leave. She’s so enthralled with the scene playing out in her head that she jumps when her brother punches her lightly on the shoulder. “We need to go!” He states emphatically.

“Oh!” She exclaims. Excitedly she states, “There was a party in that house…”

“What are you talking about?” he asks interrupting her while walking toward the truck.

She stands staring at the old house for a long moment and suddenly smiles. The party is still going on. To the tune she hears coming from that ancient dwelling she glances back at the old mansion. With a two-step dance step she returns to the truck and jumps in humming the tune.

Her brother looks at her quizzically.

“If you’re nice I’ll tell you what I saw and heard,” she states teasingly as he starts the old pickup and pulls back onto the road.

2Corinthians 1:21 – Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.”

**

The Lord has given each Christian spiritual eyes and spiritual ears. If we are open to Him He will anoint us and allow us to see and hear as He does. Some see angels and demons, some hear His voice and others through His written word. He will speak through others to encourage His children as well as use visions and dreams and whatever He chooses to bless His children. The Lord is not limited as to how He communicates or blesses His children. It was on a drive with my brother that we saw this skeleton of a great mansion. The Lord opened my spiritual eyes and ears and blessed me with being able to enjoy the party of the past. Through His anointing the sky is the limit and we need to be open to Him so as to experience His great wonders. Never underestimate the wonders and powers of our Lord and Savior. He will show us great and mighty things, even a rancher’s party in the 1800’s.

One Little Flower

At times we feel there is no hope when we see a country in decline. We pray, we speak out in earnest, and yet things seem to only get worse.

There are times we see a bit of change and our hopes rise, just a bit, but then things turn back to leave us feeling hopeless. Where does our faith come from if not from those times when things seem hopeless?

Every mountain rises up from a desert floor and it is in the desert that faith is built. If there is no opposition then there is nothing to hope for. If there is no healing, then there is no illness. If there is no mountain to climb then how do we reach the stars?

Walking through the desert a Man looks out across the dry arid plains. It is as though nothing can grow in this arid retched land and yet as He walks He sees a small desert flower. He stops. Bending down He fingers the delicate pedal and smiles. There is hope for this seemingly hopeless and dry retched ground.

That is how people must look at what is going on around them. When things look as though death is taking its toll of a country, a family, a school, or maybe a church, look around and there will be a “flower” blooming somewhere that is unexpected.

The hope seen through the eyes of faith can and will search out those things that seem hopeless and will see there is hope in what might be considered the most unlikely of places.

Hope comes from the heart and that hope is instilled through the Man who created it.

Give Hope

There are times in all of our lives that we feel that what we do is not worthwhile or significant and that no one cares. There is One who does care and regardless of what society, an individual, or even small groups of people think, we are significant in the eyes of the Almighty Lord.

I have gone through those times at various times of my life. I was insignificant in a dysfunctional family growing up. But God didn’t see me that way! He gave me the ability to survive the atrocities that were being inflicted upon me by others. I was loved by the Great I Am!

Through the years I experienced what could be called “love” from others. Men who I thought I could be the “apple of their eye.” Only to be used as their “conquest.” I have experienced the rejection of others more times than I can count, but God never rejected me!

Through the years I have learned many lessons in this journey through life and most have been valuable and some inconsequential. But the one thing I have finally learned is that no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in there is One who knows every tear we shed, knows every bit of the hurt we feel, knows every disappointment, has bottled our tears and has stored them in a secret place in heaven. He knows our heart and when we reach out to Him or to others. He cares!

Today, I am feeling quite humbled that the Lord my God, my Savior Jesus Christ would use someone like me, someone who rejected Him for years, to bring hope to others who are going through tough times.

My fingers are sore. I have a callous on my thumb from a crochet hook flying through the yarn. I am greatly humbled that the gift, or talent, He has given me is bringing joy to several patients with hair loss, vomiting, and fevers from the side affects of chemotherapy. The hats and the scarves that lend warmth on a cold winter day seem like such a small gesture but the joy in the eyes of those who are suffering makes it all worth while.

There’s no intend of patting myself on the back. I give all praise, honor, and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for how He can, and will, use me and you to bring a little joy in the lives of others.

So what is my message here?

No matter what your circumstances, no matter what life has shoved at you, you can be used by God to bring a smile, a tear of joy, and hope to others. What has the Lord Almighty gifted you with? What talent can He use through you to give hope and joy to others?

Let His Holy Spirit work through you, within you, and for you. His healing from all those life situations and circumstances will bring you the joy and peace that only He can give and with that same Holy Spirit you can share it with others. Let His light shine within you and through you and fill the hearts of others.

“Lord my God, I called out to you for help, and You healed me.” Ps. 30:2

That is the message on the little tag I attach to each item given.

Growing in Grace

Grace is everything God is. It is His Essence. Besides being unconditional love given to us as His free gift it is His power that indwells us through His Holy Spirit to give us everything we need to do anything He calls us to do. His power through His Holy Spirit gives us the ability to believe and have the faith to follow His Son, no matter where He leads us.

“This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourself to be My disciples.” John 15:8

“And this is my prayer, that your love many abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.” Phil. 1:9

“Filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.” Phil.1:11

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge.” 2Peter 1:5

“Nevertheless, the righteous will hold to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger.” Job 17:9

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor. 3:18

“The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your love, O Lord, endures forever – do not abandon the works of Your hands.” Ps. 138:8

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.” Phil. 3:14-16

“The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Prov.4:18

Blessings to you.

Is it all for Naught?

images

What is it that we spend our lives striving for?

Is it the success of having those things

that last but a short time?

We reach for the moon and fall short,

only to feel as though we have failed.

He who is on high gives us His will,

gives us His direction,

and tells us what to strive for.

If our sights are set on earthly things

our heavenly life can be jeopardized.

For as we search for fulfillment here,

through work, play, and others,

we are blinded to the great rewards

our heavenly Father promises.

He who is on high lovingly requests

we reach for His truth.

For it is His truth

and love

that sustains,

fills us with

satisfaction

and completeness.

Therefore,

reach for His life

and He will give you life,

forever more.

I feel a welling up inside my body.  It’s like a balloon being filled with air (no, it isn’t gas) kind of feeling, if I can even begin to relate to what a balloon must be feeling while being filled with air. My chest feels full, my heart beats a little faster and seems to expand just a little. Sounds kind of weird, doesn’t it? It isn’t weird at all. The Holy Spirit is upon me but how do I know that? Because I’ve experience it before and through obedience learned it is the Lord wanting to speak.

Some people might say, “I think God is speaking to me,” but how do they get that word from the Lord? Is it just a feeling? Is it a voice that speaks within the compounds of their head? Did they pick up the Bible and a verse seemed to jump up off the page?

We hear from God in a variety of ways. When I use the word “hear” I’m not talking about just hearing with our ears. It’s a term I use for covering a variety of ways that God speaks to us. One way He speaks to me is through sensing. What does that word mean, sensing? It’s that same thing I described at first. There’s a sensing within our spirit that takes the form of words. It’s God speaking to our spirit that is within us. It’s similar to what we describe as a “gut feeling” but it goes much deeper. It’s much like when we walk along and suddenly feel like someone is following us, for example. That’s a sensing within us that makes us stop and look around.

Another way the Lord speaks to me is with verbal auditory words. Sometimes they are whispered, sometimes stern, but usually He’s speaking to me just as though He’s standing in the room next to me like you and I might carry on a conversation. I literally hear Him speaking. Don’t ask me what His voice sounds like, I can’t describe it.

Another way He speaks is by guiding me to scripture in the Bible. He may say, “I want you to read….” and when I begin reading there will be a particular sentence or paragraph that He will stop me at or lead me back to over and over again. He’s telling me something in that sentence or paragraph and it’s up to me to ask what it is or discuss whatever it is with Him. In my case if I ignore it He’ll bug me (keep placing that scripture in my head over and over) until I face up to what it is He’s wanting me to know. God won’t be ignored for long. We can slam hands over our ears and shout la-la-la-la-la until we’re hoarse but eventually He will get our attention. One way or another!

He will also speak through other people to us and they don’t always have to be another Christian. If He can speak through a donkey (Num. 22:28) I think He’s quite capable of speaking through even non-believers. It sometimes amuses me because when that happens the non-believer looks as shocked as I do. But I recognize immediately that it was not the words of the non-believer so I listen. Be warned though, Satan definitely has a voice! We all must weigh what is being said with what God’s Word says and I suggest that everyone ask the Lord to give them His gift of discernment of good and evil. Just because someone opens their mouth and words come flowing out doesn’t mean they are from God. That includes preachers.

We all play a part in communicating with the Lord. I hear so many people say, “I don’t hear from God” or “God doesn’t speak to me.” My suggestion is, “Then you need to start listening.” God speaks to His children. He isn’t a mute God and He isn’t deaf either.

I think most of us feel deeply the words within songs. For me, an inspirational song can touch me more deeply than some sermons I’ve heard. Why?  Because the words and music is resonating with His Spirit within me. If we have confessed Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior His Spirit dwells within us. Personally I think His Spirit really likes music. Especially the kind that brings glory to the Lord and magnifies Him. The Lord can also use music to speak to us.

There are so many ways Christ, through His Holy Spirit, speaks to us and I encourage all to open their spiritual ears and listen with your spirit what God is saying. He accepts us where we are, He will guide us in the direction He wants us to go, He will encourage us when we feel down or lost. He is the God of love and compassion, guidance, and yes discipline, but how do we truly know that if we have never experienced His love for us through Him speaking to us in whatever way He chooses to do so? We have to be open to Him in order for His words to penetrate the deepest part of us. A closed heart is incapable of receiving. And maybe that’s the problem why people say, “God doesn’t speak to me.”
